Mining Engineer - Weekly Planning

Site: Christmas Creek

Roster: FIFO Ex: Perth 8 days on, 6 days off

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Mining Engineer to join our operations planning team at Christmas Creek. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer - Weekly Planning, this role is responsible for ensuring that detailed mine design work and short-term production scheduling associated with the delivery of the 2 week mine plan to set standards is completed in a timely manner.

Key accountabilities will include:

Deliver operational infrastructure designs for 2-week schedules in order to optimise the associated resources and maximise the value of the mining business Refinement of ore zone designs and 3-month planning solids Update solids for the 2 week mine plan and importing solids into Xact Allocate resources in Xact for production scheduling Reconciliation of the 2-week plan against the 3 month plan Liaise with Drill and Blast engineers to create detailed drill and blast sequences for the 2 week mine plan Must be capable of understanding design standards, procedures and mine physicals Haulage scheduling, haulage optimisation, waste dump designs and schedules

Qualifications and skills required:

Extensive relevant experience gained as a mining engineer with planning and design experience Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or similar Practical approach to engineering and design problems Knowledge in open pit mining, preferably in iron ore Strong short to medium term planning and scheduling knowledge Mine design knowledge Drill and Blast experience Computer proficiency (Excel, MS Office, Vulcan, Xact, Haul Infinity, SQL, Python) Strong analytical skills Team orientation and strong ability to take initiatives Strong communication skills
