The Role: Trainee Underground Mining Operators (Narrabri, NSW)

Outstanding opportunities for highly motivated people to become Trainee Underground Mine Operators are now available at our Narrabri Coal Operations mine site in NSW.

The successful candidates will be employed by the major mining contractor on site. As these are entry level mining positions, previous underground mining experience is not required. Successful candidates will be trained to equivalent certification level 2 in underground coal mining, with trades qualifications cross over managed as part of the program.

Trainee Mine Operator duties include:

Operating mining equipment – gaining competency; Inspecting the work area and plant for hazards, adequate ventilation, damage and defects; Maintaining the designated mine Standards; Rectifying and/or reporting any events, issues or circumstances anywhere in or around the mine that is a hazard or not in appropriate condition; and Performing other duties within the scope of training, skill and competence as required by the Deputy, Undermanager and Mine Manager.

Qualifications, knowledge skills and attributes:

Demonstrated personal commitment to safety; Ability to work in a multi-skilled team environment and follow instructions; Physically fit, energetic and willing to learn; Experience working with, and operating, heavy equipment would be an advantage; and Ability to work rotating shifts – day, night and afternoon. The Role: Maintenance Fitter (Tarrawonga, NSW)

We are currently looking for experienced Maintenance Fitters to join our team at our Tarrawonga Maintenance team.

This role will be reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will work as part of the maintenance team supporting the operation with maintenance which is conducted 7 days 24 hrs per day.

You will utilise your technical expertise to conduct mechanical work onsite in line with the maintenance schedule and assisting with break downs. Tarrawonga operates a fleet of Caterpillar trucks, Terex and Hitachi excavators and a variety of OB drills. A new fleet of Hitachi EH4000 trucks is being introduced. These will be in operation by March 2020.

As a member of the Tarrawonga maintenance team you will strive for continuous improvement and ensuring your work standards ad hear to a high level of Health and safety for you and your team mates. 

This is a residential role within the Gunnedah basin area. 

Candidate Specifications

The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications, experience and qualities:

Qualified (Plant Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle) Experience with Hitachi, CAT and Heavy Earthmoving equipment is desirable. An opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Mining Supervisor (OCE) to join our Open Cut Mining Operations at Maules Creek. This is a newly created position and for the right candidate, will progress their career and lead towards a Superintendent role. This position will be on an even time roster and attracts a competitive salary package, including a vehicle.

You will be in charge of the shift OCE’s and step-up team leaders for the production crews, each consisting of 110 operators. You will supervise the daily operations at the mine site to ensure production and budgetary targets are met whilst complying with relevant legislative and statutory requirements in the area of safety and environment.

Reporting to the Production Superintendent, this role is responsible for monitoring production and coal quality targets and ensure mining work is performed in accordance with mining plans so that coal and overburden targets are met, as well as ensure compliance with environmental licensing requirements and employees understand and adhere to policies and procedures.

About The Role: Electrical Tradespersons with NO coal mining experience required

Are you a qualified Electrical Tradesperson who has been thinking about entering the coal mining industry? Have you found opportunities are limited? We have opportunities available now, and if successful you could join the thriving coal mining industry and share in our success.

These roles  will be based at our Narrabri Coal Operations mine site in NSW. These are outstanding opportunities, for highly motivated people to work for a leading Australian Coal Mining company.

To be considered for the role, applicants need to be r electrically trade qualified, licenced to work in New South Wales and have an appropriate certificate of competency. As these are entry level mining positions, previous underground mining experience is not required.

Successful candidates will be trained to equivalent certification level 2 in underground coal mining. Combined with your trade qualifications, the certificate course will form part of the program.

A comprehensive training plan will be implemented and monitored by the Engineering Superintendent, Statutory Engineering Managers and Development Engineers and will broadly cover:

Basic development mining techniques and machine utilisation : Routine Maintenance inspections, breakdown fault finding and major component change out : Mine Standards :

Upon successful completion of training, you will be appointed by the Statutory Engineering Manager . You will then be able to work on our underground equipment unsupervised and will be rostered on a shift with a crew. This process typically takes between 6 and 9 months.

You will be accountable for providing support to the Mining Engineering Services team whilst working in an underground Longwall coal mine. You will be accountable for supervising the daily operations at the mine site to ensure production and budgetary targets are met whilst complying with relevant legislative and statutory requirements in the area of safety and environment.
