About The Role

The Role: Trainee Underground Mining Operators (Narrabri, NSW)

Outstanding opportunities for highly motivated people to become Trainee Underground Mine Operators are now available at our Narrabri Coal Operations mine site in NSW.

The successful candidates will be employed by the major mining contractor on site. As these are entry level mining positions, previous underground mining experience is not required. Successful candidates will be trained to equivalent certification level 2 in underground coal mining, with trades qualifications cross over managed as part of the program.

Trainee Mine Operator duties include:
  • Operating mining equipment – gaining competency;
  • Inspecting the work area and plant for hazards, adequate ventilation, damage and defects;
  • Maintaining the designated mine Standards;

About The Role

About The Role

About The Role

About The Role: Technical Services Deputy (Narrabri, NSW)

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, this role will provide underground coverage to the Technical Services Team. Filling an important role, the Deputy is responsible for:

Are you a qualified electrical or mechanical Tradesperson who has been thinking about entering the coal mining industry? Have you found opportunities are limited? These roles are for underground Mining Electrical/Mechanical Tradespersons and will be based at our Narrabri Coal Operations mine site in NSW. These are outstanding opportunities, for highly motivated tradespersons to work for a leading Australian Coal Mining company.

To be considered for the role, applicants need to be either mechanically or electrically trade qualified, licenced to work in New South Wales and have an appropriate certificate of competency. As these are entry level mining positions, previous underground mining experience is not required.

Successful candidates will be trained to equivalent certification level 2 in underground coal mining. Combined with your trade qualifications, the certificate course will form part of the program.

A comprehensive training plan will be implemented and monitored by the Engineering Superintendent, Statutory Engineering Managers and Development Engineers and will broadly cover:

Basic development mining techniques and machine utilisation : Routine Maintenance inspections, breakdown fault finding and major component change out : Mine Standards :

Upon successful completion of training, you will be appointed by the Statutory Engineering Manager Mechanical or Electrical. You will then be able to work on our underground equipment unsupervised and will be rostered on a shift with a crew. This process typically takes between 6 and 9 months.

The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications, experience and qualities:

Electrical trade / licence qualification mandatory for Trainee Electrician Trade Qualification mandatory for mechanic /Fitter trainee positions Must demonstrate a personal commitment to safety; Ability to work in a multi-skilled team environment Physically fit energetic and willing to learn Experience working with and operating heavy equipment would be an advantage Ability to work rotating shifts – day, night and afternoon How To Apply

An opportunity exists for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Narrabri underground coal team.

Reporting to the Manager of Electrical Engineering you will be responsible for assisting with: 

Ensuring all site electrical equipment delivers the highest level of safety and performance in compliance with all relevant regulations, codes and standards Ensuring all electrical project work is performed in a safe and efficient manner across the site Formulating and implementing site electrical standards, systems and procedures to achieve company objectives Provide technical engineering support and coordination for capital projects, equipment upgrades and major equipment overhaul Drive operational improvement through analysis of plant performance and subsequent maintenance and equipment reliability activities Ensure equipment, engineering standards and technical solutions add value to the business and meet relevant statutory or regulatory requirements Assist in the budget process for operations and capital works Ensuring adequate contingency planning is available to maintain long term business continuity Leading the development of site’s long-term maintenance strategy Coordination of electrical contracts and contractors and project management About You or Skills / Experience

The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications, experience and qualities:

A tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering A certificate of competency for a NSW Mine Electrical Engineer Previous experience managing repair and maintenance of underground coal mining equipment Previous experience with computer managed maintenance systems for underground mining equipment, preferably Pulse Demonstrable knowledge and skill with explosion protection (EEHA) and High Voltage (Safe Work Practices) Demonstrated leadership in a multi-functional work team environment Demonstrated positive verbal and written communications Demonstrated time management skills

Reporting to the Undermanager, this role will lead a shift crew in all planned mining activities in order to achieve production targets and safety compliance. Executing daily and weekly plans as dictated by the planning team. Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental obligations pertaining to mining activities on the deputy’s allocated shift.
